UROFAIR Virtual 2020

U ROFAIR is the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Singapore Urological Association (SUA), which is attended by over 500 delegates and attracts over 150 abstracts every year. Due to the Covid-19 global pandemic this INTRODUCTION year, the UROFAIR meeting has been changed to a virtual meeting: the UROFAIR Virtual 2020. Abstracts, which were accepted, will be published in the UROFAIR Virtual 2020 platform available to registered participants from 23-25 July 2020. This year, the SUA is honored to collaborate with The Canadian Journal of Urology International (CJUI) to publish all accepted abstracts in a special e-abstract Supplement to the CJUI. As the Covid-19 pandemic raged across the globe from the beginning of this year, borders were promptly shut by governments to stem human-to-human transmission. Just like the AUA and EAU, the SUA soon found that it would be impossible to safely organize a physical international meeting. However, the practice of Urology should not stop progressing nor should the exchange of scientific innovation cease because of the pandemic. Even before the outbreak of Covid-19 in January, we have received over 100 abstract submissions. Blessed with the digital technology available, the SUA is able to continue delivering cutting-edge scientific knowledge by conducting a virtual conference. The accepted abstracts were peer-reviewed by the UROFAIR Scientific Committee and these will be shared on the UROFAIR Virtual platform. I am grateful to Dr. Leonard Gomella, Editor-in-Chief, and Dr. Yew-Lam Chong, International Editorial Board member, for this collaboration with CJUI. I encourage that this collaboration continue next year when the borders reopen and we return to a physical UROFAIR 2021.
